This course will explore scriptural passages that support four great themes of the Christian tradition: the Call, the Witness, the Passion, and the Glory. The scriptural message will be compared to the vision of the seventeenth century Italian artist, Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. The dialogue between the scriptural text and Caravaggio’s work will provide insights not only to the history of the bible and art, but also to the faith of the modern believer.
